Integrated Pest Management (IPM) within Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) refers to the coordinated use of all methods in pest control, with a focus on the environment, to combat harmful organisms. IPM is not an alternative to the use of Plant Protection Products (PPP). IPM is not solely a biological control method or a cultural control method either. IPM is a pest control approach where all existing control methods, including chemical treatments, are used in a coordinated manner within a program or system for the management of diseases, pests, and weeds. If alternative control methods fail in pest management, the use of PPP is considered within the IPM framework.
In our country, integrated pest management has been observed for many years in both research and practical application fields. The achievements in this regard are significant. However, as environmental sensitivity increases and systems that protect the environment become more important, it becomes necessary to develop the existing IPM system further.
